A more elusive smokiness, but definitely there. Classy is the word that springs to mind. I used to prefer it to Schlenkerla, but have changed my mind in recent months -- what I used to find an overwhelming smokiness I'm now getting quite addicted to.

Can you get patches to help you give up Rauchbier?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12501248.post-62589046935580657772008-09-07T12:16:00.000+01:002008-09-07T12:16:00.000+01:00Bottled Spezial that's found it's way to Ireland c...Bottled Spezial that's found it's way to Ireland clearly doesn't do justice to what's served on draught at the brewery tavern, then.Stonchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07001578598975666535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12501248.post-44815578736507476112008-09-05T21:12:00.000+01:002008-09-05T21:12:00.000+01:00A smoky lager sounds interesting, and smoked to a ...A smoky lager sounds interesting, and smoked to a degree that I think I would enjoy.Thomashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09734969599278020673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12501248.post-77066681385976858212008-09-05T15:19:00.000+01:002008-09-05T15:19:00.000+01:00Most definitely, Beer Nut, and that's what I like ...Most definitely, Beer Nut, and that's what I like about beers such as this one. I prefer to operate in sketches rather than in those narrow, and sometimes misleading, BJCP guidelines. However, it is a superb lager and I love the stuff.Alistair Reecehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15929927359428659775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12501248.post-73786566646153209812008-09-05T09:16:00.000+01:002008-09-05T09:16:00.000+01:00Oh, that's a relief for me on the Schlenkerla Hell...Oh, that's a relief for me on the Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier, as I got a bottle in my Bamberg Box and, like you, was wondering why Rauch wasn't mentioned. I also have the Spezial Märzen and Lager. I'll have to compare the Schlenkerla and Spezial Märzens, but it sounds like the Spezial should be tasted first if they are generally lower on the smoky-bacon front. Good pre-tasting service there TBN! :DBarry Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07367655129107699025noreply@blogger.com
